Mellon Foundation and the Emory College Office of Faculty, the <a href=\"http:\/\/fchi.emory.edu\/digitalpublishing\/index.html\">Digital Publishing in the Humanities<\/a> initiative at the Fox Center aims both to educate the Emory community about open access publication options in humanities scholarship, and to offer subventions that support the publication of <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/openaccess\/books\/\">open access and digitally-enhanced monographs<\/a> by Emory faculty. ECDS also hosts a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/openaccess\/journals\/\">open access journals<\/a> and develops publishing platforms, including <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalscholarship.emory.edu\/expertise\/projects\/open-tour-builder.html\">OpenTour Builder<\/a> (a walking tour application) and <a href=\"https:\/\/readux2.ecdsdev.org\/\">Readux<\/a> (a collaborative group annotation software).<\/p>\n<p>The ECDS research and training center, developed in partnership with the Laney Graduate School, provides students with project and process management experience and digital publishing skills that enhance their professional portfolios.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Emory Libraries<\/h2>\n<h3>Open Access Publishing Fund<\/h3>\n<p>Emory University&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.emory.edu\/research\/open-access-publishing\/emory-oa-fund\">Open Access Publishing Fund<\/a> supports Emory authors in publishing in open access (OA) journals and books when no alternative funding is available. This resource delivers long-term digital access to unique cultural heritage and scholarship collections from Emory. The site currently provides direct access to digitized content from multiple campus libraries, with many of the materials open to the public. Although many items are still protected by copyright, some are in the public domain (i.e., free from copyright and available for reuse). New digital content is being added weekly, and as part of an ongoing Emory Libraries strategic initiative, the Libraries will expand this resource to include material submitted by campus scholars and researchers for long-term preservation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In addition to Emory Digital Collections, the Libraries continue to manage two scholarly repositories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/open.library.emory.edu\/\">OpenEmory<\/a> contains mostly scholarly journal articles by Emory researchers published elsewhere, but it also has original scholarly works such as conference posters, papers, and presentations.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/etd.library.emory.edu\/\">Emory Theses and Dissertations<\/a> contains culminating works by graduate students and Honors Program undergraduate students since 2007 (works previous to that time are in print-only in our collections and can be found in <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.emory.edu\/\">our catalog<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>External OA Initiatives<\/h3>\n<p>Emory Libraries recently revised and updated its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.emory.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/2023-06\/Open%20Access%20Collection%20Policy_Revised_With_Transfromative_Agreements.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"6\">Open Access Collection Development Policy<\/a> (PDF), which serves to guide decision making about which open access initiatives to support with Libraries funding or other types of contributions. <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.emory.edu\/about\/investments-external-open-access-and-dei-initiatives\">Learn more about our investments in open access<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.emory.edu\/research\/open-access-publishing\/agreements\">about our agreements with publishers allowing APC-free open access publishing<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Center for Faculty Development and Excellence<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-300 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/openaccess\/files\/2020\/10\/CFDE-300x144.png\" alt=\"Photo of three people smiling and holding books in the Woodruff Library Jones Room, Emory University.\" width=\"300\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/openaccess\/files\/2020\/10\/CFDE-300x144.png 300w, https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/openaccess\/files\/2020\/10\/CFDE.png 730w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>CFDE supports <a href=\"https:\/\/cfde.emory.edu\/resources\/research-scholarship\/index.html\">Emory faculty authors<\/a>, including those who wish to publish their works open access.
