Effective 11/1/2023, the Research Data Analytics team has implemented a new policy for handling data, analytics, and dashboard request. The new policy will apply Emory wide, including research administration requests. The changes are based on a recent analysis of our availability and workload, which revealed that the current project queue extends into 2026, that was presented to Dr. Deborah Bruner and Dr. Robert Nobles. The changes are designed to take our limited resource availability into consideration while enhancing our operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Starting on 11/1/2023, all requests for data, analysis, and dashboards must be submitted via our Qualtrics data intake form. The link to the form has been added to our webpage and will be included in the email signatures of all RDA team members. Data requests will no longer be accepted or processed if they are emailed or messaged directly to any of our team members, emailed to the analytics team email account, or submitted via SOAR.
All projects that require more than 4 hours to complete must be chartered. All requests are subject to approval by the Research Data Analytics team, in collaboration with senior leaders. This collaboration will include prioritizing chartered projects as well as developing a completion timeline using quarterly sprints. A member from the Research Data Analytics team will reach out to you within 2-3 business days after you submit a request. This will include the status of your request (approved, waitlisted, denied, or referral to other data and analytics teams as well as next steps). It is likely that many projects will be waitlisted for one or more years into the future. We will also reach out within 2-3 business days should we have any questions/concerns regarding your request.
Please use this form to submit any data requests to the RDA team: https://vpofresearchoffice.iad1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0HfJwOmwyr1wVwO
The Research Data Analytics team will also focus on providing more self-service dashboards that will be shared research administration wide. These self-service dashboards might be in EBI, Tableau, or other platforms. The goal is to provide dashboards that might be able to answer routine questions and/or provide the underlying data as needed. That is in addition to reports that are already available on ORA’s reporting website. We hope that this will allow the Research Data Analytics to focus on more specialized data, analysis, and dashboard requests. We plan to socialize the self-service dashboards via meetings with research administration departments and units.
