Madelienne Skinner Awarded the 2019 Sara Gregory Scholarship

Maddy Skinner

Congratulations to Madelienne (Maddy) Skinner, a first-year student from Cumming, who has been selected as the 2019 recipient of the Sara McDowell Gregory Memorial Scholarship at Oxford College!  This award was established in 2011 by Humanities Professor John W. Gregory, Sr., who retired from Oxford College in 1979.  He established the Sara Gregory Scholarship in memory of his wife, a former chemistry and mathematics professor at Oxford who later became the college’s head librarian.   The Sara Gregory Scholarship is awarded yearly to a deserving Oxford student who excels as a library assistant and who best reflects the four principles of student employee character:  professionalism, flexibility, investment, and approachability.

Maddy is the treasurer of Oxford’s new Art Club, a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, a member of the Outdoor Club, a Library Leader, and a Library Desk Supervisor.  She is majoring in international studies and Chinese, and is pursuing a career in the field of foreign aid.  She enjoys art, reading, and board games, and looks forward to continuing her studies on the Atlanta campus upon graduation from Oxford.
