Optimal Health & Child Development

Flourishing is a concept that will serve as our foundation for this material.  The definition includes:

  • To grow well, to be healthy
  • To do well, prosper

When dealing with both neonatal and pediatric patients, there are some basic tenants that must always be addressed:

  • History of the patient, including birth and pregnancy history
  • Household and environmental issues
  • General medical and surgical history, including a genogram
  • Family History
  • Developmental differences
  • Family and cultural influences
  • Parental concerns
