Inaugural Kessler Research Fellow, Prof. Ulrich Bubenheimer

Pitts Theology Library welcomed its first inaugural Kessler Collection Research Fellow this fall, a new appointment supported by the Kessler donors. Prof. Ulrich Bubenheimer retired from the University of Heidelberg and is a renowned expert in identifying manuscripts related to the Reformations of the 16th century. He first reached out to Pitts when he discovered the handwriting of Martin Luther on the title page of an item in the Kessler Collection (see here). Bubenheimer has spent 6 weeks working through several hundred items in the Kessler collection, including printed works that have manuscript annotations in the margins, title pages, and backs of books to place the comments in the context of developing 16th century theological debates.

Please join us in acknowledging Prof. Bubenheimer’s dedicated work and contributions to Pitts!
