To the Journey Woman Pieces of Myself

“The Black feminist, lesbian, poet, mother, warrior Audre Lorde (1934-1992) was a native NewYorker and daughter of immigrants.” Audre Lorde ProjectThis short play draws from Audre Lorde’s poetry and prose, particularly her biomythography, Zami: A New Spelling of My Name. Lorde writes of growing up a Black lesbian in New York, her life and loves, and her commitment to justice. This project for The Power of Black Self-Love affirms the power of Blackness, of loving women, in believing in a more loving and just world. Watch the performance below or read the full script.
