Quantitative and Qualitative Event Analysis | Roberto Franzosi (rfranzo [at] emory [dot] edu)

Roberto Franzosi uses Quantitative Narrative Analysis (QNA) methods, a big data approach to understanding social networks, geographic distribution of events/ individuals, and more, to improve our understanding of cultural events. For example, who were the individuals involved in lynchings in Georgia during the Jim Crow era? What are the social relationships  that led to the rise of facism in 1920’s Italy? QNA techniques have been used to address these questions and are applicable to many more. Big data is creating avenues for a more complete understanding of human behavior and society.
