“Half of Adults Have Heard Little or Nothing About New Covid Boosters, Survey Finds”, written by Jan Hoffman, was published in the New York Times on September 30th, 2022. According to a report by the Kaiser Family Foundation, the source of the NYT article, the new booster shot was authorized at the end of August, but by mid- to late September, nearly half of adults had heard little or nothing about it. The article then goes on providing more information on the findings of the survey, that older people are not only more aware but also better informed about vaccination. The article also points out that confusion over eligibility is widespread, and one reason is that different sources can sometimes provide contradicting information.
Jan Hoffman writes about behavioral health and health law, so this article is non-partisan, and does not serve as a way to attack the government, although it does criticize sources to be inconsistent and not informative enough. The language is fairly straightforward and informal, and everyone in the United States is the intended audience. It points out the inconsistency among sources, by doing which, Hoffman informs his audience about the eligibility of the new booster and at the same time, reminds the audience to be skeptical about various sources.
