NIH Releases Updated Application Kits for Grants with Due Dates On or After September 25, 2013

NIH has also announced that they are transitioning to updated electronic application forms packages. The new packages will be identified by a Competition ID stating FORMS-C. These new application form packages include changes to the SP424 (R&R) Cover, project information, fixes to R&R Budget and Associated Subaward budget, R&R Sr/Key Person, and the project/performance site locations to name a few.  More information regarding the changes is at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/ElectronicReceipt/files/FORMS-C_Changes.pdf.

For due dates on or after September 25, 2013, all applicants will be required to use FORMS-C packages, with the exceptions noted below. This includes electronic applications submitted under the continuous submission policy, administrative supplement requests (Type 3), change of organization requests (Type 6) and change of grantee/training institution requests (Type 7) submitted September 25, 2013 and beyond.  The exceptions to this requirement are:

  • Individual Research Career Development Awards (Ks)
  • Institutional Training and Career Development Programs (Ts and Ds)
  • Individual National Research Service Awards (Fs).

The above programs will transition to FORMS-C on or after January 25, 2014.

If creating a new application in Cayuse, the most current version of the application forms kit should pick up. If you have already started an application or are copying a prior application for current use, you may convert it to the current kit by using the TRANSFORM feature in Cayuse. The system will ask you to identify the FOA to which you wish to TRANSFORM the application and you may TRANSFORM the application to a new FOA or back to the original FOA. During the TRANSFORM function, the most recent kit will be utilized. For questions on this feature, please contact your OSP analyst.
