Use of ARRT will become Mandatory for all Departmental Administrators for All Awards Ending 4/1/14 or Later

As previously announced in the October 2013 newsletter, the use of the ARRT for award end review and reconciliation is becoming mandatory for all Departmental Administrators (as well as RAS Administrators who are already using this tool). Please see the October 2013 article for more information on this tool and change. It can be accessed at https://blogs.emory.edu/ranews/2013/10/03/new-tool-coming-to-assist-departmental-and-ras-administrators-with-post-end-date-analysis/. The use of this tool will be required for any awards ending 4/1/14 or later. It must be completed and submitted to OGCA by the responsible departmental or RAS administrator within 60 days following the end date of the award (for 90 day reporting requirements).

As outlined in the article referenced above, with the upcoming NIH changes, it is critical to ensure that we have tools and processes in place to ensure timely reporting of awards. Delinquent closeouts and reporting will result in loss of funding under the new NIH requirements. In order to assist RAS Units and departments in completing their responsibilities within these deadlines, ARRT has been developed. Feedback on this tool has been very high. It greatly assists users in doing the final review and reconciliation on awards that have ended. Anyone responsible for the administration of sponsored programs at Emory must use this tool to complete these tasks for any awards ending 4/1/14 or later. Please note that ARRT is available to be used now and OGCA will accept this for awards ending prior to 4/1/14 (but it is only required for awards ending on or after that date).

ARRT (and information regarding the tool and training) can be accessed at http://www.ogca.emory.edu/arrt/index.html. Anyone who is responsible for the post award administration of sponsored programs at Emory needs to attend training. Please register early to ensure that you will be able to meet the deadlines for awards ending 4/1/14 or later. Any questions regarding the use of ARRT should be directed to your OGCA representative or assigned OGCA Help Desk.
