The Office of Research Compliance is sponsoring its 8th Annual Compliance Symposium on October 31, 2014.  Our guest speaker will be Dr. Ferric Fang, Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Microbiology at the University of Washington.  Prof. Fang has written more than 180 peer-reviewed articles and has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the American Academy of Microbiology, the Association of American Physicians and the Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.  In collaboration with his colleague Arturo Casadevall, Prof. Fang has authored a series of commentaries on the nature of the contemporary scientific enterprise and opportunities for reform.  In 2012 he was the lead author of an article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that analyzed over 2,000 retracted research articles in the life sciences literature.
