Use Correct Containers for Dry Ice Storage

This picture is from a container that exploded due to improper dry ice storage.

Dry ice should be stored inside of an insulated container such as a Styrofoam cooler or ice bucket to allow it to sublimate. If your lab has access to a dry icechest, place excess dry ice inside that.

See the article in the November issue of the Lab Rat Newsletter regarding hazards involved in disposing of dry ice in a sink and tips offered for handling dry ice safely.
