Make sure your BioRAFT profile is up to date!

Before returning to the lab, make sure all required trainings are completed. This includes completing expired or overdue EHSO trainings such as Research Lab Safety, Biosafety, BBP for Research (if applicable), Laser Safety (if applicable), and Radiation Safety for Laboratory Research Personnel (if applicable).

Be advised that a new training module has been added – Returning to Laboratory Research at Lower Density. This new training module will take 10-15 minutes to complete and is mandatory for all Emory Laboratory Personnel and any Other University Personnel listed in BioRAFT (faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and trainees, and graduate students) returning to, as well as, those currently engaged in on-campus and community-based research activities.

In addition to training, be sure to review and submit Biological Projects and Chemical in Animals Forms due for update and/or renewal. Annual updates of your biological, chemical, and/or radiation safety registrations should be completed at the same time.

Training:

  1.  Log into BioRAFT using your Emory credentials – https://emory.bioraft.com.
  2.  Click Course Name in the Required Training box on your Home screen.
  3.  Click “Launch Course” for the training course.
  4.  Please ensure you follow the instructions to complete the training module. You will need to click “Next” on the lower right corner of the screen below the last slide.
  5.  Go back to your Home page (see link in upper right-hand corner of the screen below your name) to complete any additional course requirements.

Note: The required training modules are dictated by the job activities selected for each lab member. These can be reviewed under the Member Summary on the Dashboard tab.

Biological Registrations:

  1.  Log into BioRAFT using your Emory credentials – https://emory.bioraft.com.
  2.  On the Bio tab, click View or Update Biological Usage Summary.
  3.  Review all surveys, forms, and listed biological agents. If the PI has more than one project form (i.e. more than one biosafety approval), all project forms should be reviewed during the  update.
  4.  Click Edit to make changes/updates to the form.
  5.  When the review and update is complete, the Compliance Liaison should click “Notify PI” at the bottom of the page. This will send the PI an email stating it is ready for certification.
  6.  After the PI completes the 2-click certification process (Certify and Submit), the status of the registration will change to Awaiting EHS Review.

Note: Only the PI can certify the biological, chemical, or radiation safety registrations to initiate the EHS review.

  1.  If you do not receive a response within two weeks after the PI has certified the registration, please contact biosafe@emory.edu.

Chemicals in Animals Forms:

  1.  Log into BioRAFT using your Emory credentials – https://emory.bioraft.com.
  2.  Click Manage Lab Forms on the left menu.
  3.  Click on the Chemicals in Animals Form.
  4.  Click Edit to review the form and make any changes.
  5.  Under the Review and Submit tab, click Submit.
  6.  The status of the form will either be changed to “Awaiting PI Review” or “Awaiting EHS Review.”

Note: If the status is “Awaiting PI Review,” the PI will need to login and submit the form to notify EHSO to change status to “Awaiting EHS Review.”

  1.  If you have any questions about your Chemical in Animals forms, please contact csp@emory.edu.

Radiation Safety Registration:
