ORA Staff Spotlight- Dr. Jamila Edwards

Congratulations 2022 SRAI Future of the Field Rising Star Awardee

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Jamila Edwards! She is the recipient of the 2022 SRAI Future of the Field Rising Star Award! According to SRAI “The rising stars chosen to be recognized this year represent the most radiant of research administration professionals from all around the US and internationally. We are very proud to have them as our colleagues, mentors, co-workers, and friends.”

 Jamila Edwards is one of the pre-award managers for the Public Health and Nursing RAS. Her team supports several departments at Rollins and the School of Nursing. Jamila is an experienced research administrator with over eleven years of experience in both pre- and post-award administrator roles. Jamila holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, a master’s degree in public and non-profit finance and administration, and a doctorate in higher education administration. She came to Emory from Georgia State University and has been a part of the PHN RAS for nearly 8 years. As a Certified Research Administrator Jamila has been active in the National Council for Research Administrators as well as the Society of Research Administrators International.

 As a member of RAS leadership Jamila has worked to leverage her training, experience, and passion for research administration to improve faculty and research staff onboarding, staff training, and process improvement for her RAS unit. Her guiding principle is that in the ever-changing field of research administration, great administrators must be knowledgeable and nimble to continually adapt while providing excellent service.

We are very proud Jamila and grateful to have her represent Emory ORA Excellence on a global scale!
