{"id":7127,"date":"2020-11-15T21:24:07","date_gmt":"2020-11-16T02:24:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/ranews\/?p=7127"},"modified":"2020-11-15T21:24:07","modified_gmt":"2020-11-16T02:24:07","slug":"increase-in-personnel-density-for-research-laboratories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/ranews\/2020\/11\/15\/increase-in-personnel-density-for-research-laboratories\/","title":{"rendered":"Increase in Personnel Density for Research Laboratories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On November 30, personnel density for research laboratories will <strong>be increased<\/strong> from one person per 250 square feet per one person <strong>to<\/strong> <strong>one person per 150 square feet<\/strong>.\u00a0 This increase in occupancy density continues to require the use of face coverings and maintaining a minimum distance of 6-feet between people.\u00a0 This physical distancing requirement is not always feasible when conducting research.\u00a0 Should work require that personnel work closer than 6-feet, additional personal protective equipment (PPE), such as a face shield, is required.\u00a0 Please see <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.web.emory.edu\/ehso\/secure\/secure_ehso_covid-19_research_laboratories.html\">Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHSO) Guidance<\/a> or contact EHSO for additional information.<\/p>\n<p>The original maximum density requirement of 250 square foot per person was implemented to account for movement needed to conduct research within the requisite space.\u00a0 Because of challenges in logistics and productivity, the original requirement was re-evaluated.
