{"id":7494,"date":"2021-05-04T09:05:33","date_gmt":"2021-05-04T13:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/ranews\/?p=7494"},"modified":"2021-05-04T09:28:35","modified_gmt":"2021-05-04T13:28:35","slug":"undergraduates-in-som-labs-for-summer-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/ranews\/2021\/05\/04\/undergraduates-in-som-labs-for-summer-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Undergraduates in SOM Labs for Summer 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The School of Medicine (SOM),\u00a0in\u00a0collaboration with Emory College of Arts and Sciences (ECAS) and Georgia Institute of Technology,\u00a0has established a\u00a0process\u00a0to review and\u00a0approve\u00a0requests\u00a0for undergraduates\u00a0to\u00a0serve\u00a0in\u00a0SOM\u00a0labs\u00a0this Summer.\u00a0<strong>All<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>undergraduates<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>must be approved through this process for this Summer, regardless of their current status.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An undergraduate student may be allowed to return to or join\u00a0an SOM lab if they are\u00a0in\u00a0one of the following categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Emory students registered for either Emory Course: XXXX 495A\/B (HonorsResearch\u00a0for Credit), XXXX 399R or 499R (Research\u00a0for Credit).<\/li>\n<li>Georgia Tech students registered for Georgia Tech Course: XXXX4699.<\/li>\n<li>Studentsinvolved\u00a0in\u00a0the Emory IMSD or SIRE undergraduate\u00a0research<\/li>\n<li>Studentsinvolved\u00a0in\u00a0the Emory or Georgia Tech SURE program or SURE affiliate program.<\/li>\n<li>Students hired through Emory HR (PIs willsubmit\u00a0information about\u00a0hired\u00a0students to SOM for\u00a0review\u00a0purposes only and should follow all HR hiring procedures).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A PI can submit a request approval\/acknowledgment to return to SOM labs using this form: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fis.gd%2Fundergradsinsomlabssummer&amp;data=04%7C01%7Ckristina.bowen%40emory.edu%7C5e4c08f3c35d4b2e0c6008d90e5a5e69%7Ce004fb9cb0a4424fbcd0322606d5df38%7C0%7C0%7C637556603556257409%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&amp;sdata=TdfDOuGsdbP8lu3%2BNKPKm%2FL4UdFiKxU63JxU2scuHAY%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(https:\/\/is.gd\/undergradsinsomlabssummer)<\/a><\/span>. <strong>The submission deadline is Monday, May 17, 2021.<\/strong> If the student is 100% remote, they do not have to go through this process.
