January 2026 –

The Religion Department organized a series of meaningful events throughout 2025. We began the Fall semester with a Student Connections gathering featuring Professor Wei Wu, where students had the opportunity to meet several faculty members and engage in thoughtful discussions.

In September, Professor William Gilders hosted a memorable Honors Student Lunch. This event brought together honors students and their advisors, offering a valuable opportunity for connection, support, and academic engagement. Professors Sara McClintock and Dr. John Dunne recently received the 2025 Khyentse Foundation Prize for Outstanding Translation for Nāgārjuna’s Precious Garland: Ratnāvalī (Wisdom Publications, 2024).

In November, Professor Geshe Lobsang Negi was honored with the 2025 Karen Armstrong Humanitarian Award, presented by the Charter for Compassion. To close out the year, Professor Gary M. Laderman led a successful Sacred Drugs book launch event, bringing together both students and faculty members from different departments for an insight conversation about his latest work.
