| Hi! My name is Saakshi and I am a first year sociology PhD student at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. I am interested in studying the second-degree impacts of climate change: for instance, the predominant first-degree impact is societal displacement and land dispossession, which can cause mental and physical health issues, social conflict, and cultural loss, among communities; and reinforces the planning and implementation of mitigatory policies, or discourse against climate change mitigation, among legislators and political leaders. This project aims to document these mental, sociocultural, and policymaking changes and their dynamic with climate change and displacement. |
