Digital archiving is of critical importance in the context of historical government documents. These documents provide a record of government actions, decisions, and policies that have shaped our societies and communities, and preserving them digitally ensures that they are accessible to future generations, can inform the development of new policies and decision-making processes, are protected from degradation, and are accessible for purposes of transparency and accountability in government by providing a centralized repository for public records. This project aims to create a digital repository of Native American treaty documents, which are critical in these times of political reneging and amnesia toward promises made.
