Group Picture 1-22-16Welcome!

We are a research group at the interface of organic, organometallic, and inorganic chemistry at Emory University. Our goal is the development of sustainable catalysts using earth-abundant transition metals. In particular, we are working to develop sustainable catalysts for selective oxidation reactions of relevance to energy, commodity chemical functionalization, and fine chemicals synthesis. We are particularly interested in identifying connections between electronic structure and reactivity of transition-metal complexes, with the goal of developing detailed models that enable de novo catalyst design. We are, first and foremost, synthetic chemists, and our synthetic targets are inspired by fundamentals of electronic structure and reaction mechanisms, as well as metalloenzymes and heterogeneous catalysis. This combination of interests and expertise provides a rich atmosphere for scientific development of students and postdocs.
