Hertz Nazaire is a Haitian-born artists and painter. Nazaire moved to New York City when he was nine years old from Port-Au-Prince. He lives with sickle cell disease, and utilizes his art to advocate and raise awareness for sickle cell disease and science education. He mostly uses oil pastels, mixed media, and acrylics to paint brightly colored pieces. His favorite artists are Jean-Michel Basquiat, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Lois Mailou Jones, Vincent van Gogh, Georges Seurat, Paul Gauguin, Renoir and many others. He is also inspired by a long list of Haitian, Caribbean, and African-American artists.
