Need for a Community Garden

The Super Giant Foods Community Garden project was formed as a response to a needs assessment conducted by the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. For almost 2 years, students have been actively listening to community members at the store as well as residents at a nearby Section 8 apartment complex to gather information about the needs of the community. The resulting assessment documented the impacts of living in a food desert, which include obesity, diabetes, poor nutrition, and other presentations of ill health.
