Christine McGrath, PhD, MPH is an epidemiologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington (UW). Dr. McGrath has over 10 years of experience collaborating on HIV-related projects among women and children in Kenya. She has been an instrumental part of the leadership team for randomized trials, cohort studies, and national program evaluations to identify interventions to reduce childhood mortality, growth faltering and malnutrition, perinatal HIV transmission, cervical cancer and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Dr. McGrath has worked with the TREE team since 2007, when she first became involved in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities with the Coptic Hope Center for Infectious Diseases in Nairobi.

Currently she is involved in M&E and mentorship activities for the UW and Aga Khan University (AKU) collaborative training program aimed at strengthening the capacity of AKU fellows in Kenya as well as leveraging ongoing HPV studies to facilitate training of health professionals in HPV and HIV co-infection. Dr. McGrath is the Principal Investigator (PI) of a randomized trial testing a mobile Health intervention to increase coverage and identification of childhood acute malnutrition (Thrasher Foundation) and PI of a prospective cohort study to evaluate the role of breast milk oligosaccharides and the gut microbiome on growth and health outcomes in HIV-exposed uninfected children (NICHD 1R01HD096999).
