{"id":1417,"date":"2021-07-06T15:41:10","date_gmt":"2021-07-06T19:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/whscl-news\/?p=1417"},"modified":"2021-09-13T11:44:03","modified_gmt":"2021-09-13T15:44:03","slug":"new-journal-impact-factors-and-newly-launched-jci-metric-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/whscl-news\/?p=1417","title":{"rendered":"New Journal Impact Factors and Newly Launched JCI Metric Now Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2021 release of Journal Impact Factors are now available. \u00a0Access to the new Impact Factors is made available through the Emory University Libraries\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/pid.emory.edu\/rwbqg\">Journal Citation Reports<\/a> subscription via the Web of Science platform.\u00a0 Sign in with your Emory University NetID and password to view or browse impact factors.\u00a0 These are the most recent Impact Factors reflecting journal citation data from 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Journal Impact Factors are a proprietary measurement of journal quality based on the average number of citations to publications appearing in that journal over the last two publication years. i.e. the number of citations received in 2020 to 2018-2019 publications in a journal.\u00a0 Impact Factors are available for more than 20,000 journals across 254 defined fields and are published annually. <a href=\"https:\/\/clarivate.com\/blog\/the-2021-journal-citation-reports-a-continuing-evolution-in-journal-intelligence\/?utm_campaign=EM1_Email_JCR_Launch_SAR_Global_2021_Customers&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Eloqua\">Read more here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s release includes a 70% increase in included journal titles, expanding to include content from the Arts &amp; Humanities Citation Index and the Emerging Sources Citation Index.<\/p>\n<p>The Journal Citation Reports, is also launching a brand-new metric, the Journal Citation Indicator.\u00a0 The JCI is a field-normalized metric that can be used to compare journal rankings across disciplines and is available for all journals included in the Web of Science Core Collection- even those that do not have a Journal Impact Factor.
