Clint Fluker, senior director of culture, community and partner engagement for the Michael C. Carlos Museum and Emory Libraries will moderate the discussion. Her research focuses on opioid overdose response among service industry workers and laypeople, using ethnographic methods and innovative strategies. She co-created the graphic novel\u00a0Staying Alive in Little Five\u00a0with Joseph Karg to present harm reduction research in culturally resonant ways, becoming an essential element of her outreach efforts. As a certified Apple educator, she leverages digital platforms for public health messaging through social media campaigns and E-pubs. Her initiatives\u2014including peer-reviewed publications, public health training programs, and multimedia campaigns\u2014aim to reduce stigma, improve overdose response, and enhance community health outcomes.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>Andy\u00a0Gish<\/strong>,\u00a0RN, BSN, CEN, is the Director of Georgia Overdose Prevention where she oversees state-wide community outreach and\u00a0naloxone\u00a0distribution. She is a Board-Certified Emergency Room and Harm Reduction Nurse who helped pass Georgia\u2019s Medical Amnesty Law\u00a0in 2014.\u00a0She is a guest lecturer\u00a0and speaker at universities and national conferences.\u00a0Her focus is on teaching how to deliver compassionate, non-stigmatizing care through a harm reduction framework.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In 2018,\u00a0Andy\u00a0was named one of the Top 10 Nurses in Georgia for her work. That year she was also given a Commander\u2019s Challenge Coin from\u00a0the Chief Engineer of the U.S. Public Health Service under the Office of the Surgeon General.\u00a0In 2020, she was presented with Emory\u2019s Excellence in Nursing Award from the Alumni Association.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In 2023, Andy created the Georgia Naloxone Map, a live map\u00a0of\u00a0all known 24\/7 naloxone access points.\u00a0 The map started with 3 access points and continues to grow to\u00a0over 40\u00a0access points.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>Clint\u00a0Fluker<\/strong> serves as the senior director of Culture, Community, and Partner Engagement for the Michael C. Carlos Museum and Emory University Libraries. Raised in Atlanta, GA, Fluker received his B.A. from Morehouse College and M.A.\/Ph.D. from Emory University\u2019s Institute for Liberal Arts. Fluker is the co-editor of The Black Speculative Arts Movement (2019), a collection that enters the global scholarly debate in the field of Afrofuturism studies. He is also the director of the Bronze Lens nominated film,\u00a0Zorahead: The Life and Scholarship of Valerie Boyd (2024). As a visual artist, Fluker\u2019s most recent work was included in the 2024 ArtsXchange exhibition, \u201cHold the Line,\u201d where his origami sculptures are presented as meditations on the themes of memory and fragmentation. Fluker is also the co-founder of The Tenth, an Atlanta-based community granting the intellectually curious and creative access to rich cultural experiences through the hosting of intimate salons inspired by the Harlem Renaissance. Clint\u00a0is an avid consumer of popular culture and has a passion for weaving connections between archival memory and media trends. In his spare time, you can find him folding origami, reading science fiction, or visiting artist\u2019s studios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>Joseph\u00a0Karg<\/strong>\u00a0is an accomplished illustrator and Assistant Professor of Illustration and Sequential Art at Kennesaw State University. With over a decade of experience in the industry, Joseph has worked on major projects with Marvel Comics, Netflix, and the Emmy Award-winning series\u00a0Archer. His passion for storytelling through visual art extends into his academic and community-focused work. Most recently, he collaborated with Dr. Sarah Febres-Cordero on the creation of\u00a0Staying Alive in Little Five, a graphic novel that raises awareness about the opioid epidemic in Atlanta\u2019s Little Five Points neighborhood. The project aims to engage and educate communities on harm reduction strategies through the unique and accessible medium of comics.
