{"id":331,"date":"2014-11-19T14:30:08","date_gmt":"2014-11-19T19:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/whscl-news\/?p=331"},"modified":"2014-11-21T15:53:08","modified_gmt":"2014-11-21T20:53:08","slug":"new-discovere-featurs-forthcoming-nov-28-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/whscl-news\/?p=331","title":{"rendered":"New discoverE features forthcoming, Nov 28-30"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Emory libraries will update <a href=\"http:\/\/discovere.emory.edu\/\">discoverE<\/a> over the Thanksgiving break. <strong>The update will start at 5 p.m. Friday, November 28 and finish Sunday, November 30.\u00a0 <\/strong>Enhancements and improvements to <a href=\"http:\/\/discovere.emory.edu\/\">discoverE <\/a>include: <strong><\/strong><strong><\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Permalinks<\/strong>: The <em>Permalink<\/em> option under an item\u2019s <em>Action<\/em> menu provides a permanent URL for an item.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Citation<\/strong>: The <em>Citation<\/em> link under an item\u2019s <em>Action<\/em> menu lets users copy a citation for an item in APA, MLA or Chicago style.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Virtual browse<\/strong>: A new tab in the record view lets users browse items with subject-classified call numbers around the parent item.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Improved search<\/strong>: Changes to indexing have improved known-item search, search for terms containing punctuation, diacritics and special characters, and relevance ranking.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sort Date-newest<\/strong>, <strong>Date-oldest<\/strong>: New sort options let users sort results by newest or oldest first.<\/li>\n<li><strong>QR Code<\/strong>: A <em>QR Code<\/em> link under an item\u2019s <em>Action<\/em> menu lets users easily capture an item\u2019s title, location and call number on your mobile device.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Send to Phone<\/strong>: A <em>Send to Phone<\/em> link under an item\u2019s <em>Action<\/em> menu lets users easily text an item\u2019s title, location and call number to their mobile device.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Separate Rare Book Records<\/strong>: MARBL rare book records no longer combine with other records, making it easier to find notes associated with special copies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Newly Acquired<\/strong>: A <em>Newly Acquired<\/em> facet under <em>Refine Search Results,<\/em> <em>Show Only<\/em> lets users limit their results to items acquired by the library within the last 60 days.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Full View<\/strong>: A <em>Full View<\/em> link under the item <em>Links<\/em> menu lets users access complete bibliographic information from the source metadata. (There\u2019s also a <em>Staff View<\/em> to display the full MARC data in MarcEdit format.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While <a href=\"http:\/\/discovere.emory.edu\/\">discoverE<\/a> will remain functional during most of the process, <strong>some down time will occur between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday, November 28<\/strong>.
