Author Talk With Pellom McDaniels Postponed

Due to the uncooperative weather, we unfortunately must postpone Thursday evening’s author talk with Pellom McDaniels about his new biography “The Prince of Jockeys: The Life of Isaac Burns Murphy.” As soon as we’re able to reschedule, we’ll post it on the Woodruff Library homepage.

His life spanned the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the beginning of the Jim Crow era. Known for his gentlemanly and elegant demeanor, Murphy began racing at age 14 and continued until shortly before his death at age 35 from pneumonia.
