Alumni and the Library

As you prepare for graduation, you can count on many of the same great library services as alumni, which you’ve come to expect as a student.CongratsGrads_opt As Emory alumni, you will always have access to the library.  You only need to update your record at the Library Service Desk, then you can continue to check out books and, when in the Woodruff Library, anyone at the desk can log you into a computer so that you can access databases and online journals.

You can finally toss that tired, worn Emory card and replace it with a new Alumni ID Card to provide access to the Woodruff Library building, which you know also includes the Music & Media Library, and the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, & Rare Book Library . For other Emory libraries, please contact them directly for alumni privileges.

97140015If you are moving and will no longer be in Atlanta, you will still have privileges. You can continue to count on Subject Librarians for assistance via phone, email, or chat. Also, the Emory Alumni Association provides access to several of the popular databases.  These are available as a perk from the EAA’s Benefits & Services web site.  These multidisciplinary databases include newspapers, magazines, and peer-reviewed journal articles in sciences and social sciences and more specific databases in public health, environmental studies, nursing, business, religion, and sociology. You’ll find them perfect for keeping current in your profession, great for consumer issues, and for financial news.

A few services cannot be maintained as alumni. These include full-text access to all of the library’s licensed electronic resources off-campus and interlibrary loan. Fortunately, both of these services can be fulfilled by your local public library. If you are remaining in metro-Atlanta or Georgia, you can also continue access to many online article databases, genealogy research, and other research tools via GALILEO (Georgia Library Learning Online).

Contrary to that phishing spam in your inbox, the library does NOT email you and ask for your personal Screen Shot 2013-10-11 at 9.24.39 AMinformation. We prefer to do this in person to protect your privacy and safety. If you have any concerns or questions, please either call or email the Library Service Desk at 404-727-6873 or servicedesk [at] mail [dot] library [dot] emory [dot] edu.

  1. I’ve loved my time here! It will be sad to leave such a great school. I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for this school and everything that I’ve learned here!
