The Woodruff Health Sciences Center (WHSC) Library is proud to announce that Tara Douglas-Williams has been elected to serve as president-elect of the Medical Library Association (MLA), beginning May 2025.

Tara Douglas-Williams
Tara has a distinguished career in librarianship and a longstanding commitment to advancing the values and mission of MLA. A visionary leader, she has contributed to the association for more than 25 years, including her service on the MLA Board of Directors, where she helped introduce new strategic goals in high priority action areas from 2021-2024.
Tara has been a dedicated member of the African American Medical Librarians Alliance (AAMLA) where she has mentored colleagues, facilitated book clubs, and promoted wellness initiatives.
As president-elect, Tara will collaborate with the current leadership to shape the strategic direction of MLA, advocate for libraries and information professionals, and support key programs that strengthen the profession. With the future of professional associations at a pivotal moment, her leadership comes at a critical time. Tara will assume the role of president in May 2026.
