Find these stories\u2014from the <em>Freedom\u2019s Journal<\/em> to the <em>Chicago Defender\u2014<\/em> in Emory\u2019s newspaper databases.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pid.emory.edu\/chncw\"><strong>African American Newspapers from Accessible Archives<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Frederick Douglass\u2019s <em>Freedom\u2019s Journal<\/em> from 1827-1829 is one of eleven Nineteenth Century Black newspapers digitally available via Accessible Archives.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/pid.emory.edu\/chn8g\">African American Newspapers, Series 1 and Series 2 from Readex<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>The <em>Freedom\u2019s Journal<\/em>, also appears alongside later, small-town Black newspapers such as the <em>Afro-American Review<\/em> from Salina Kansas and Afro-Hawai\u2019i News from Waialua, Hawaii in the African American Newspapers database from Readex.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2020\/02\/Screen-Shot-2020-02-17-at-11.38.51-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-10286\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2020\/02\/Screen-Shot-2020-02-17-at-11.38.51-AM.png\" alt=\"Image, August 23, 1970\" width=\"341\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2020\/02\/Screen-Shot-2020-02-17-at-11.38.51-AM.png 612w, https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2020\/02\/Screen-Shot-2020-02-17-at-11.38.51-AM-258x300.png 258w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/pid.emory.edu\/ck9x6\">Black Newspapers from ProQuest Historical Newspapers<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>The Baltimore <em>Afro-American<\/em>, which is one of the nine major newspapers in Proquest\u2019s Black Newspaper Collection, published its first edition in 1892. Other major city papers followed suit including Chicago (1905), New York (1909), and Atlanta (1928). Search the historical backfiles of nine major African American Newspapers.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/pid.emory.edu\/cjdv5\">Ethnic Newswatch from Proquest<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Current Black Newspapers (or Black Newspapers from the 1960s onward) can be found in Ethic Newswatch. It has over 115 African American papers.<\/p>\r\n<p>For additional information on the editors, writers and newspaper titles, try searching <a href=\"http:\/\/pid.emory.edu\/ck5s7\">Oxford African American Studies Center<\/a>.
