{"id":5523,"date":"2014-04-07T08:38:49","date_gmt":"2014-04-07T13:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/?p=5523"},"modified":"2014-04-07T12:42:51","modified_gmt":"2014-04-07T17:42:51","slug":"oboclassics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/news\/oboclassics","title":{"rendered":"Oxford Bibliographies Online (OBO) Classics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several years ago, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zotero.org\/\">Zotero <\/a>was young, scholars recognized open citation software\u2019s potential to create online, sharable, free subject bibliographies that could aid students and\u00a0 scholars across the globe.\u00a0 One such endeavor was <a href=\"http:\/\/ancientbiblio.wordpress.com\/about\/\">Ancient World Open Bibliographies<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 The blog supports their project to collect bibliographies about subjects relevant to studies of the ancient world (as NYU defines it \u2013 \u2018from the Pillars of Hercules to the Pacific, from the beginnings of human habitation to the late antique \/ early Islamic period.\u2019)\u00a0 The bibliographies are found on a\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/ancientbibliographies.libs.uga.edu\/wiki\/Scholarly_Bibliographies_Available_Online\">dedicated wiki site<\/a> and at the online platform <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zotero.org\/groups\/ancient_world_open_bibliographies\/items\">Zotero<\/a>.\u00a0 AWOB still offers a wealth of\u00a0 knowledge for classics scholars, but it has not been updated regularly.<\/p>\n<p>On to the landscape appears Oxford University Press, with their own subscription-based bibliographies.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/pid.emory.edu\/fjr4c\">Oxford Bibliographies Online: Classics i<\/a>s a guide to scholarly literature in the field, covers major categories of research with bibliographies and recommended resources.
