They built databases, created physical and digital exhibits, and served as research and teaching partners within and outside of the library. Emory Libraries and Information Technology Services greatly benefitted from their diverse skill set and specialized subject knowledge. We sincerely appreciate their efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Here is an overview of what they accomplished:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leeann Bass<\/strong>, Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science, worked with the Statistical Data Services division of the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship. Over the course of the year, Ms. Bass acquired web and text scraping skills, which she applied to both student projects and to her own research. <strong>(ECDS-Data\/GIS Fellow)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/web.library.emory.edu\/exhibitions\/current-exhibits\/changing-atlanta.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-7053 \" src=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/1-200x300.png\" alt=\"1\" width=\"166\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/1-200x300.png 200w, https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/1.png 246w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 166px) 100vw, 166px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Louis Fagnan<\/strong>, Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History collaborated with the Arrangement and Description Team at the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library. Mr. Fagnan processed the manuscript collection of Atlanta tax attorney, Randolph Thrower and co-curated a physical exhibit, presently on dis<br \/>\nplay in the Schatten Gallery entitled, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/web.library.emory.edu\/exhibitions\/current-exhibits\/changing-atlanta.html\">Changing Atlanta: The Challenges of a Growing Metropolis<\/a>,\u201d which included an <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/changingatlanta\/\">interactive webpage<\/a> on the county unit system in Georgia <strong>(Woodruff-Rose Library Fellow)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Karen McCarthy<\/strong>, a doctoral candidate in Philosophy, collaborated with the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship on the project \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/unpackingmanuels\/\">Unpacking Manuel&#8217;s Tavern<\/a>.\u201d Ms. McCarthy assisted i<a href=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/unpackingmanuels\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-7052 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/2-300x184.png\" alt=\"2\" width=\"328\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/2-300x184.png 300w, https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/2.png 544w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 328px) 100vw, 328px\" \/><\/a>n the creation of high-resolution panorama images of the bar, known during the second half of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century as \u201cground zero for the Atlanta Democratic Party.\u201d The project captured the newspaper clippings, photographs, and original artwork that adorn the walls <strong>(ECDS-Digital Humanities Fellow)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nicole Morris<\/strong>, a Ph.D. candidate in English, worked on the project <em>Gathering Blossoms Under Fire: The Journals of Alice Walker<\/em> (2017) with Valerie Boyd, Associate Professor of Journalism and Charlayne Hunter-Gault Distinguished Writer-in Residence at the University of Georgia. Ms. Morris, who has been working with Boyd since 2014, edited and transcribed portions of the Walker\u2019s journals, which form part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/pid.emory.edu\/ark:\/25593\/900jh\">Alice Walker papers, circa 1930-2010<\/a> at Emory University\u2019s Stuart A. Rose Library. <strong>(Alice Walker Fellow)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Joanna Mundy<\/strong>, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Art History, partnered with the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship (ECDS) on projects involving data management, Django and MySQL databases, network analysis, and GIS mapping projects. In particular, she contributed to the <a href=\"http:\/\/digitalscholarship.emory.edu\/projects\/project-tracking-samothrace.html\">Tracking Samothrace<\/a> project and worked on database creation and data integration for <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/mappingsenufo\/\">Mapping Senufo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/samothraciannetworks\/\">Samothracian Networks<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gs.emory.edu\/sites\/beckettletters\/\">Beckett Letters<\/a>, among other projects. <strong>(Beck Fellow)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jessica Reuther<\/strong>, a PhD Candidate in the Department of History worked with the Robert W. Woodruff Library\u2019s Services Division as a subject librarian, providing research and instruc<a href=\"http:\/\/guides.main.library.emory.edu\/prf.php?account_id=58199\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-7055 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/4-300x180.png\" alt=\"4\" width=\"327\" height=\"196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/4-300x180.png 300w, https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/4.png 501w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 327px) 100vw, 327px\" \/><\/a>tional support to the African Studies community. Ms. Reuther developed online guides to <a href=\"http:\/\/guides.main.library.emory.edu\/c.php?g=413105&amp;p=2815013\">Gender and Sexuality in Africa<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/guides.main.library.emory.edu\/c.php?g=362013&amp;p=2445211\">Francophone World Resources<\/a>, and provided in-depth consultations for students doing Africa-related research. She also worked to build the library\u2019s collections on Francophone Africa by beginning a collection assessment and establishing contacts with French language book venders in the region.\u00a0<strong>(Woodruf-Subject Librarian Fellow)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shunyuan Zhang<\/strong>, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Anthropology<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7054 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/5-300x132.png\" alt=\"5\" width=\"355\" height=\"156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/5-300x132.png 300w, https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/woodruff\/files\/2016\/05\/5.png 609w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 355px) 100vw, 355px\" \/>, partnered with the Outreach &amp; Education team at the Woodruff Library and the Emory Writing Center.
