Gavin is a fourth-year graduate student in the Wuest Lab from Dana Point, California.  He received his B.S. in chemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2018, where he conducted research on the isolation and characterization of marine sponge-derived natural products under the advisement of Professor Phillip Crews.  Upon graduation, Gavin spent a year developing his skills in total synthesis at the University of California, Irvine under the advisement of Professor Chris Vanderwal before coming to Emory to pursue his PhD in organic chemistry. After joining the Wuest lab in 2021, Gavin became interested in the total synthesis of complex natural products with antimicrobial activity.  Outside of the lab, Gavin enjoys hiking/camping in North Georgia finding the best spots to eat in Atlanta.
