Martina was born and raised in Minnesota and received her Bachelor of Science in chemistry and Bachelor of Arts in French from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. While at St. Thomas, she worked in Dr. J. T. Ippoliti’s lab investigating the total synthesis of novel oxazolidinone antimicrobials. Martina joined the Wuest lab in the fall of 2020 to follow her passion for total synthesis and medicinal chemistry and started working on the Promysalin project. Some of Martina’s passions outside of chemistry involve learning about social justice, practicing sustainability, spending time with her partner Chase and their cat Milo, and acquiring cat knick-knacks. You can see her in lab sporting a hot pink sharpie and glittery cat pins!
