About

Dr. Howa Yeung has a strong passion and demonstrated experience for diversity and inclusion (D&I) efforts in dermatology. He is a seasoned health disparities researcher and supports D&I in research initiatives, clinical practice, and his lab.

Dr. Yeung is currently funded by a NIAMS K23 and Loan Repayment Program to develop research techniques and experience required to become an independent, patient-oriented investigator addressing sexual and gender minority (SGM) disparities in skin diseases – such as acne in transgender persons receiving hormone therapy. His strong commitment to a career in skin health disparities research is primed by an NCI U54 undergraduate health disparities training fellowship; a NIAMS T32 dermatoepidemiology research fellowship; a Dermatology Foundation research fellowship, and an NCATS KL2 award on skin cancer risks in sexual minorities.

Dr. Yeung D&I experiences includes:

  • Founding member and current Vice Chair of American Association of Dermatology (AAD)’s LGBTQ/SGM Health in Dermatology Expert Resource Group aimed to improve SGM dermatologic care;
