YTI Online Groups

YTI is a place where youth can find respect and acceptance. We help you to expand your theological skills and to learn to use those skills to transform yourself and our world.

This summer we began hosting two weekly groups for young people. We had such an enthusiastic response that we have decided to begin a second round of groups in the coming weeks. If you are interested in being the first notified when we open registration for the next set of groups, please let us know here. Both groups are free, but space is limited.

Group 1

This group is open only to high school students (rising 10-12 graders) and to young adult alumni of recent YTI programs who identify as Black. For the first six weeks, this group will be led by a professional facilitator alongside two graduate students at Candler School of Theology at Emory University. After the first six weeks, the group will be co-faciliated by the graduate students. All facilitators for this group identify as Black. The goal of this group is to provide a space where Black youth can share with one another how they are experiencing this time in their lives. The facilitators will work to hold the space for the group with two goals in mind: to mutually support one another and to explore practices of self-care. Together the group will read Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You: A Remix of the National Book Award-winning Stamped from the Beginning, by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.

Group 2

This group is open to all high school students (rising 10-12 graders) and to young adult alumni of recent YTI programs. The focus of this group will be learning how to combat racism. This group will use the workbook: Stop Being Afraid: 5 Steps to Transform Your Conversations about Racism by Dr. Amanda Kemp and will be facilitated by the same graduate student facilitators from Group 1 and by a woman who identifies as white, Dr. Jill Weaver, Director of YTI and YTI IMPACT.

Each group will meet once a week for 90 minutes. The groups will last 10 weeks.
