The Compassion Lab

First – Our research group focuses on supporting the development of the evidence-based SEE Learning program and CBCT for educators by determining implementation processes to improve feasibility, impact, and long-term sustainability at the school, district, city, and national levels.

Second – We aim to enhance understanding by developing tools and measures for implementing CBCT and SEE Learning effectively.

Third – Our goal is to support global dissemination by emphasizing impactful manualization processes.

Forth – We contribute to compassion-based education studies worldwide through scientific advancements in the general understanding of compassion, common humanity, interdependence, and all the domains of secular ethics.

How we are growing

Our goal is to continue to foster local and global collaborations that contribute to our understanding of SEE Learning, CBCT for educators, whole school implementation processes, and the global development of schools that are both rigorous and grounded in fostering kids and communities that are kind, compassionate, resilient, and academically rigorous. We welcome the growth and development of this global research network. For any questions or to join the collaboration, contact us via email.

Building for change

Building from the education literature, six domains have been identified as critical for implementation that is sustainable across a system. The key, when addressing sustainability, is a willingness to focus on what is possible across all domains vs. focusing on a single domain or area of implementation.
Those in leadership need skills and SEE understanding for implementation to thrive
Take an implementation approach that works for your school based on what works
Engaging families and communities creates a shared vision that enhances sustainability
Student voice and inclusion is developing SEE creates opportunities of stronger program impact
SEE must align with school initiatives as a part of shared goals that are communicated
Professional development includes SEL for adults to create supportive schools
Ongoing professional development support creates opportunities and spaces to strengthen educator development
