BUILDING FOR CHANGE
Student Voice
Student Voice, as it relates to the SEE Learning program, is defined by its focus on integrating student input and leadership into the planning, training, and ongoing development of SEL initiatives.
This domain emphasizes the importance of empowering students to actively participate in and contribute to the SEL process. By involving students in decision-making, program design, and facilitation of peer support, this approach fosters a culture of engagement, enhancing the sustainability and relevance of SEL within the school community.
It aligns with a strengths-based pedagogy, valuing and building upon students’ unique abilities, fostering their autonomy and agency. This integration of student voice and leadership not only strengthens the school community but also supports SEL sustainability by enabling students to recognize their skills and nurture their personal development.
The practical application of this approach involves creating spaces for student engagement, such as clubs, and student government associations, and incorporating student-led practices in various school activities and service projects, ensuring that student perspectives significantly influence school-wide health and well-being initiatives
