Welcome to Digital Matters!
Educational technology can be a transformative force in and out of the classroom, whether it’s making learning more engaging, teaching new skills or just saving time. These tools, and the strategies for implementing them, often have a learning curve, but it doesn’t have to be painful, and faculty don’t have to go it alone.
Digital Matters is a space for sharing knowledge and providing concrete examples of how technology can enhance teaching and learning, with as little frustration as possible. We want to showcase the best technologies, provide information about taking advantage of the variety of tools available, and to highlight great faculty work.
The Digital Matters blog started as an idea among members of Emory’s Teaching & Learning Technologies (TLT) team to create an online space for exchanging tips, tricks, and relevant applications of EdTech tools from real experiences. Our team works daily with Canvas and other tools to make learning more engaging for students and teaching more effective for faculty through creative use of instructional technologies. In this blog, we document some of the solutions we’ve found and technologies we love and encourage others to share their own.
Topics you can expect to see covered in this blog include Canvas, social media, infographics, data visualization, student group discussions and assignments, professional development, and more. We take contributions from Emory faculty and staff across campus as well as guest contributors from other institutions. We are excited to introduce Digital Matters to Emory as a resource for making EdTech accessible and enjoyable. We hope to create an ongoing dialogue about innovative solutions for reaching your teaching goals and achieving learning objectives.
