Since its inception nearly two years ago, the Emory Jazz Alliance has made significant strides in supporting the ongoing mission of Jazz Studies at Emory. Through the generous support of EJA donors, the Strickland Jazz Studio, our teaching and rehearsal suite, now boasts a newly upgraded Smart Board System and state-of-the-art hybrid piano. Our unique use of this technology has placed the Emory Jazz Studies Program on the leading edge of innovations in jazz pedagogy.
Outreach is also a central component of Jazz Studies at Emory, providing knowledge and insight through global interaction. 2015 served as the launch of our initiative to raise international awareness about our program. Through a partnership with Centro Colombo Americano, four Emory Jazz students traveled to Colombia where they performed and taught young audiences about America’s most unique musical art form.
With over forty students participating in our large and small ensembles, it is necessary to provide individual as well as classroom instruction. This fall, the EJA will begin to provide scholarships to offset the cost of private lessons for qualified students as well as provide funding for clinics and master classes for group instruction.
Please support the Emory Jazz Alliance. Your donation will help to insure that these activities and programs remain vibrant as the Emory Jazz Studies Program continues to expand.
Please consider becoming a Vanguard Member of the Emory Jazz Alliance.
