The Department of Film and Media is delighted to welcome Dr. Jinsook Kim as an Assistant Professor this semester. Dr. Kim received her Ph.D. in Media Studies from the Department of Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas, Austin in 2019. Prior to joining the Emory faculty, she was a postdoctoral fellow with the Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.
Her research takes a critical approach to digital media and cultures that involves both identifying the competing forces that make digital media toxic and inhospitable for marginalized groups and accounting for the struggle and labor necessary to render digital space livable. She will be teaching FILM 102: Introduction to Television and Digital Media and Film 385: Social Media and Cultures in the Fall of 2022. For more information on Dr. Kim, click here.
