Film and Media congratulates Noor Aldayeh (21Ox, 23C), for winning the Dr. Jack G. Shaheen Mass Communications Scholarship from the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

The Dr. Jack G. Shaheen Mass Communications Scholarship is awarded to Arab Americans who excel in media studies by ADC (the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee). Awardees are undergraduate or graduate students who are majoring in journalism, TV, Radio, and/or Film. The scholarship was created by Dr. Jack G. Shaheen and his wife Bernice Shaheen to continue Dr. Shaheen’s work of dispelling damaging cultural images, offering insights drawn directly from awardees’ heritage to bring out positive change.

The scholarship will go towards funding Noor’s senior year Honor’s Thesis project which is a photography-based exhibit centered on queer Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) women and gender non-conforming individuals.
