During the first four weeks of classes, I was mostly impressed by the interactive projects derived from Falda’s map of Rome or Envisioning Baroque Rome. The extremely detailed drawing of the buildings and the true-to-scale layout of the city is so exact that it drove me to wonder how an artist at that ancient time got to produce an exact map of the city without any help from advanced technology. Then when the 3D re-created version of the map is displayed, I was fascinated about how art or art history can be connected to programming, architecture, and computer science when producing a project because these academic areas, for me, are completely different from each other. In the interactive map, I got to vision the city from different angles, even from a bird-eye perspective, which gives me a better idea of the scale and design of the buildings and the layout of the city in a true 3D atmosphere.
I think Readux would be a great source for me during my production of both the visual analysis and the final project. I can access many different artworks and their intro or stories behind them without borrowing a big book from the library, and I could annotate whatever I find interesting or need to remind myself. I could also get easy access to my own notes by searching for the keywords, allowing me to categorize my thoughts into different sections possibly.
However, I am still not sure about the theme to use for my final projects. I am interested in exploring Baroque art in Asia because I thought the Baroque style only existed in the Western world. I wonder what it is like in the Eastern side of the world and how it delivers stories or thoughts.
