Day 3

After a supremely satisfying dinner last night at Sapori di Napoli, we began our third day with two family-style sessions: the first on Intellectual Property, presented by Melanie Kowalski, and the second on User Design, presented by Kevin Glover.

A lighthearted moment before SERIOUS LEGAL INFORMATION was provided by Emory’s Copyright and Librarian, who eagerly answered questions on fair use and other copyright issues.

After these two sessions, I took an opportunity to revisit the Seamus Heaney exhibit on Woodruff Library’s 3rd floor.

Among many interesting exhibition pieces, which describe Heaney’s life and works and his relationship with Emory, one can find the desk that Heaney used for many years, a simple construction of two oak boards:

After lunch, the institute attendees broke out into our respective groups again and continued working on our projects. I completed my basic exhibition creation in Omeka and am now focusing on window dressing, attempting to see if iframes are capable of being embedded in Omeka.net.

After much help and some frustration, I’ve incorporated Dipity’s timeline/map functions into my exhibit on Horace Mann Bond.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is working on during the project reports tomorrow, as well as putting the final touches on my (small) exhibit in Omeka.
