I was amazed by how great the presentations were this morning. Everyone is so creative and able to really provide a wealth of information about the collections and history of each institution. I was also impressed by how WordPress can be manipulated and transformed to many different formats. I look forward to working with all the platforms presented.

Is there a good tutorial that shows you how to create an Omeka theme from scratch or how to modify existing themes?

Day 3
After a supremely satisfying dinner last night at Sapori di Napoli, we began our third day with two family-style sessions: the first on Intellectual Property, presented by Melanie Kowalski, and the second on User Design, presented by Kevin Glover.
After these two sessions, I took an opportunity to revisit the Seamus Heaney exhibit on Woodruff Library’s 3rd floor.
Among many interesting exhibition pieces, which describe Heaney’s life and works and his relationship with Emory, one can find the desk that Heaney used for many years, a simple construction of two oak boards:
After lunch, the institute attendees broke out into our respective groups again and continued working on our projects. I completed my basic exhibition creation in Omeka and am now focusing on window dressing, attempting to see if iframes are capable of being embedded in Omeka.net.
After much help and some frustration, I’ve incorporated Dipity’s timeline/map functions into my exhibit on Horace Mann Bond.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is working on during the project reports tomorrow, as well as putting the final touches on my (small) exhibit in Omeka.
Copyright
Excellent presentation and resources on copyright. Ordered two of the books!
I’m in!
Had a few hiccups getting into the blog, and on the network, but I’m finally in! I have been enjoying these sessions, and am learning a lot. Omeka, Mobile Tour and WordPress are all new to me, but I like what I see and am planning to use everything that was presented. The project I am working on requires Omeka, so at the end of this workshop, I will be more familiar with that one. However, the overview of all three applications on Day One was clear and inviting.
User & Content Design & WordPress
Very interesting session! Kevin is very innovative and really holding my interest! I love web and content design. This session came right on time for me because our web developer and myself are representing the Office of Academic Affairs at my institution in the revamping of our school’s website. The WP team and Kevin are awesome! 🙂
Copy Right and Digital Scholarship
Off to a good start! This was the first copy right presentation that I’ve attended that didn’t leave me even more confused than I was before I started. I actually understood what she was saying!
