Bio

I am a Ph.D. candidate in History, specializing in late imperial China with a focus on the Ming dynasty examination system and its connection to the Sino-Foreign Difference ideology. My dissertation analyzes Confucian scholar and official training through examination records, using digital humanities tools to understand the Ming dynasty’s unique claim of legitimacy. With extensive knowledge of classical Chinese and 13 million words in my examination dataset, I am dedicated to advancing my understanding of the field through the use of digital humanities methods. I will share my learning journey on this site.
