Lucy Wallitsch is a PhD candidate in English at Emory University where her research focuses on cognitive difference and disability in American literature of the (long) nineteenth century. Her dissertation considers stories of care and disability and of disabled care and community which take place outside of medical or psychiatric institutions in literature and the archive. Lucy is also pursuing a certificate in Digital Humanities and works as the Digital Production Associate forĀ The Sounding Spirit Collaborative.
In addition to her research at Emory, Lucy is a board member of Home of Our Own, a non-profit which advocates for and builds accessible and affordable housing for disabled people, and a collaborator in a data collection working group with The Kelsey.
