Andrew Ertzberger is a doctoral student in Philosophy at the University of Tennessee, with prior degrees in Theological Studies and Bioethics from Emory. His research focuses on philosophy of medicine, moral anthropology, disability studies, and current issues in clinical ethics. His goal is to continue the development of a psycho-social-spiritual model of well-being that can serve as a foundation for medical ethics and assist us in forming solutions to problems in biotechnology. Most recently, he finished his second MA Thesis, entitled, “CRISPR-Cas 9 Technology and the Virtues: The Role of Reason, Care, and Accountability,” which examined emerging gene therapy techniques in light of recent scholarship in virtue ethics, disability studies, and feminist ethics.
