The Fundamentals of Effort Certification 

Effort Certification Fundamentals is now available in Brainer. This course walks learners through the basics of effort certification. After completing this course, learners will be able to: 

  • Define effort certification 
  • Describe the difference between effort and salary 
  • Describe how Emory’s effort certification process meets federal requirements for certifying effort on sponsored awards 
  • List the roles and responsibilities of those involved in the effort certification process at Emory 
  • Identify Emory’s effort certification periods  

Effort Certification Fundamentals is part one of a three-part series on effort certification developed by Sandra Meadows, Instructional designer, in consultation with central and non-central administrative staff. This fundamentals course takes learners 15-20 minutes to complete and satisfies 0.25 contact hours in research administration toward the ORA Continuing Education requirement.
