Sir Elton John’s Books Arrive at Oxford College Library

The Oxford College Library is excited to welcome a stunning new collection of art and photography books gifted to Emory by Grammy-award winning artist Sir Elton John in 2024.

John, a long-time resident of Atlanta since the 1990s, chose to donate over 2,000 rare, limited‑edition, and signed photography and art books to Emory University. Portions of the collection will be available at both Emory’s Woodruff and Oxford College libraries. Students and faculty across disciplines—including art, history, sociology, and cultural studies—will benefit from access to these visual materials.

So far 700 titles have been cataloged at Oxford—with hundreds more to go. This remarkable donation not only strengthens Oxford College Library’s collection and provides a unique opportunity for the student body, but also weaves Sir Elton John’s artistic legacy into the fabric of Oxford’s academic environment.

Students are invited to peruse and borrow from the collection now available on the Oxford Library’s second floor. Just look for Elton on the wall above the shelves!
